ABSTRACT GUIDELINES

Call for Abstracts:
The APAPU/SPUNZA 2019 organising committee would like to call for abstracts for the upcoming meeting to be held at the Hyatt Regency Perth from 8 – 10 November 2019. 

Only abstracts that have not been presented or published in more than one International Meeting are allowed to submit. Abstracts will be blind reviewed and selected by the Review Committee for oral presentations. There will be the following three types of presentation at the conference:

  • Oral presentation - 5 mins including 2 mins question time
  • Short oral presentation - 3 mins including 1 min question time
  • Poster presentation - includes a digital poster (viewable on Conference app and website) plus a Short oral presentation (3 mins including 1 min question time)

Abstract Submission opens: Monday, 4 March 2019
Abstract Submission closes: Sunday, 30 June 2019

Themes:
Abstracts relating to the following Conference themes will be given preference for inclusion in the program:
  • Bladder Exstrophy
  • Disorders of Sexual Dysfunction
  • Enuresis
  • Neuropathic Bladder
  • Oncology
  • Paediatric Renal Transplant
  • Pelviureteric Junction Obstruction
  • Posterior Urethral Valves
  • Robotic Surgery
  • Ureterocele
  • Urolithiasis and Testes
  • Vesicoureteral Reflux
  • VUJO
Submissions on “Other” topics representing paediatric urology will be also be considered under the free paper category.

Review Process:
All abstracts will be blind reviewed by the APAPU/SPUNZA Scientific Review Committee within a month of the closing date. Updates will be communicated by the Conference Secretariat. Some abstracts will need to be amended and you may be asked by the Review Committee to submit these changes. It is the intention of the Review Committee to use the amendment process to assist authors to improve the value of their abstract.

Please note that all presenters must register for a minimum of one day of the conference by the Early Bird Deadline for registration (Monday, 9 September 2019) or the presentation will be withdrawn from the program.

Formatting Requirements:
Abstracts should be submitted using the abstract template provided and submitted online by Sunday, 30 June 2019.
  • Should be 300 words or less, inclusive of title, author(s) names, and institutional affiliation(s)
  • All submissions should be in Microsoft Word 
  • Abstracts should fit onto a single A4 page 
  • Please use 11pt Arial font
  • Abstract title should be in BLOCK CAPITALS
  • Please do not include author's details
  • Please do not use abbreviations unless defined in the abstract
  • Care should be taken to ensure high quality English expression and grammar
  • Please DO NOT include any graphs or images with your abstract(s) - tables are permitted
Submitted abstracts can be edited any time prior to submission deadline on Sunday, 30 June 2019.

Abstracts should use the following layout as a guide. If you are unsure about the layout of your abstract, please contact the APAPU/SPUNZA secretariat. 

Title 
This should be succinct and descriptive of the study 

Introduction 
Give a brief reason for the study. Provide a clear statement of the aims of the study

Methods
Give a short description of the study population or specimen preparation, data collection and processing.

Results 
Important statistical results (such as confidence intervals, p values or correlation coefficients) should be included.
Please note that tables can be included in this section if necessary.

Conclusions 
Make simple statements that are supported by the evidence shown in your results.

Please note:
  • Responsibility for the accuracy of the abstract/s and the agreement of co-authors with the content of the abstracts rests with the principal author. 
  • The presenting authors of successful abstracts need to register and pay to attend and present at the Conference. 
  • All abstracts will be reviewed by members of the APAPU/SPUNZA Scientific Program Committee whose decisions are final. 
  • Disclosure of any conflict of interest and sources of funding for research must be made by the authors of an abstract by submitting a declaration of interest.
  • The presenter information can be updated at a later stage should your abstract be accepted.
