Call for Abstracts
We invite you to submit an abstract for the following categories: - Individual Presentations
- Group/Panel Presentations
- Rapid Fire Presentations
- Posters
- Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Travel Award
- International Early Career Research Fellow Travel Award
We invite you to submit an abstract that addresses one of the key themes of ADF 2018 in relation to your dementia research project or program:
- Cooperation
- Collaboration
- International Connections
Please nominate which of the Strategic Roadmap for Dementia Research priorities are relevant to your abstract:
- Prevention
- Intervention and Treatment
- Assessment and Diagnosis
- Living with Dementia
- Care
Abstracts will be published in the ADF 2018 Book of Abstracts as submitted. Please ensure you check your data carefully before submitting as changes or additions may not be accepted after the call for abstracts closes.
Presentation Catagories
Abstracts may be submitted for individual, panel, rapid fire or poster presentations.Individual Oral Presentations
20 minutes including 15 minutes to present and 5 minutes for Q&A.Group/Panel Oral Presentations
30 minutes including 25 minutes to present and 5 minutes for Q&A.Group or Panel presentations can be proposed that are relevant to the Strategic Roadmap for Dementia Research and Translation.
Rapid Fire Oral Presentations
5 minutes including 3 minutes to present and 2 minutes for Q&A.Speakers are to present on the role of cooperation, collaboration and/or international connections in relation to their research. For example, how this may have affected methodology or outcomes.
Poster
Posters will be on display for specific days of the meeting. Authors will be given a specific time to be in attendance during the poster sessions, which will be scheduled as part of the Forum Program. Total poster size should not exceed 841 mm wide x 1189 mm high (AO size). POSTERS LARGER THAN THIS SIZE CANNOT BE ACCOMMODATED.
Posters should be prepared in portrait format. You do not need to include your abstract on the poster.

The submission of an abstract indicates an understanding of the following rules for participation in the Australian Dementia Forum:- All Author(s) approve submitting this work for presentation
- The Author(s) transfer(s) all copyright ownership of the named abstract to the NHMRC National Institute for Dementia Research
- The Author(s) agree(s) to materially confine their presentation(s) to information in the abstract accepted. If an author has more than one abstract accepted, each presentation(s) will be materially confined to the information in the abstract selected for the specific session
- At least one Author will be available to present the abstract if selected for the program. The authors will immediately notify the Conference Secretariat if they are unable to present an abstract or if the presenting author is changed. The organisers reserve the right to remove a presentation from the program
Submission Details
- Abstracts should be original work
- A maximum of two (2) abstracts can be submitted per presenting author
- Abstracts must not exceed 250 words, NOT including title, authors and affiliation. Font: Calibri 11.5. Page margins: 2.5 cm
- Any abstract that exceeds this limit will not be considered to ensure equity in the assessment process
- All abbreviations must be spelled out on first use
- The abstract file should be named as follows: Research Priority Area_Presenting Authors last name_Authors First initial (e.g. Living with Dementia_Smith_B)
- Abstracts must be submitted by 5.00pm AEST Friday 13 April 2018 for consideration by the Abstract Review Committee
- Authors will be notified of provisional acceptance of abstracts as either poster presentations or oral presentations by Monday 7 May 2018
Presentation and Poster Awards
Awards will be awarded in the following categories:- Oral Presentation
- Best Poster for each of the five priority areas
- Best Poster or Presentation describing methods for, and outcomes, from Patient and Public Involvement in Dementia Research
