Travel Awards

ADF 2018 will see the introduction of two travel awards:

Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Travel Award

We would like to invite people impacted by dementia to be part of the Forum. NNIDR encourages people with dementia, carers or former carers, and family members who are advising research groups to join with their research teams to present their research approach and outcomes. If you would like to present on your experience of working with a research team, we encourage you to apply for this Travel Fellowship. Successful applicants will be offered either an oral presentation or poster in the ADF 2018 Program alongside international speakers and leading Australian Researchers.

The ADF 2018 theme is Cooperation, Collaboration and International Connections and we are particularly interested to hear from people affected by dementia whose experience has helped to shape the collaborative practice of the medical and research community, or who are able to offer insight into how cooperation and collaboration between them and researchers could offer better outcomes.

Up to fifteen (15) Awards will be made.

We encourage Applicants to seek the support of their research teams in completing their applications.

These awards are to subsidise attendance at ADF2018 and enable Australian Institutes to host an international ECR fellow to further collaboration and strengthen international connections.
The ECRs must:

  • Provide an Abstract for a presentation
  • Provide evidence of their employing organisation’s agreement and support for the Award
  •  Be able to travel at the time of the conference

The Applicant must hold a PhD and must be undertaking research that clearly relates to the NNIDR Strategic Roadmap for Dementia Research and Translation.

For this Award, the applicant must be within eight years of the award of their PhD. This excludes career disruption, which may involve a prolonged interruption to an applicant’s capacity to work, either due to absence (for periods of one month or greater) and/or long-term partial return to work, to accommodate carers responsibilities or illness. The career disruption must have occurred post the date of the letter advising that the PhD thesis was passed and resulted in significantly reduced research productivity or nil research output.
