Abstract Guidelines


⁠On behalf of the Organising Committee, we invite you to submit your abstract/s for presentation at the USANZ NSW Section Meeting to be held at the Hyatt Canberra from 31 October - 2 November 2019. 

Presentations from all fields of urology will be considered. Abstracts will be reviewed by the meeting's Convenor and Scientific Chair and acceptances will be sent via email.

Submitted abstracts must represent original work that has not been previously published. Upon acceptance the Scientific Committee expect that the author will present the material and scientific data appearing in the submitted abstract. The data must not be modified or updated for the presentation without the prior written approval of the Scientific Secretary.

Important Dates

1 May 2019 | Abstract Submission Opens

Close of Business 8 August 2019 | Revised Deadline for Abstract Submission  - the Abstract Submission Deadline has now been extended to 8 August 2019.

Early August 2019 | Abstract Outcome Emailed

4 September 2019 | Early Bird Registration closes (Presenters must be registered or their presentation will be withdrawn from the program)

Instructions for Abstract Submission

Abstracts must be submitted using the abstract submission portal using the template provided.

  • Abstracts must be submitted using the abstract submission portal using the word template provided 
  • Abstracts are limited to 3000 characters (including titles, spaces and tables).
  • Tables are counted as 500 characters. Authors and affiliations are excluded.
  • Title: Please ensure this is as informative as possible.
  • Keywords: Please include 5 keywords that best describe the abstract. Please select keywords that correspond to the Medical Subject Heading (MeSH) used by the NLM for indexing articles in Medline (refer to https://meshb.nlm.nih.gov/search)
  • Authors: Please list the author's full first and family name and bold the presenting author.
  • The abstract must include the following headings: Aim; Method; Results; Conclusion.
  • Results must be included. Using the statement "results will be presented" is not satisfactory.
  • All research should have been conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki, or have received ethics approval.

Chris Farrell Presentations

nSET2 and nSET3/SET4 Trainees.

Chris Farrell Prize presentations will be allocated 8 minutes total.

Please allow:

  • 4 minutes for oral presentation, including electronic version of poster.
  • 4 minutes for question time.

Trainees submitting for the Chris Farrell Prize are required to prepare a hard copy of their poster to display for the duration of the Meeting. Posters will be displayed for the duration of the Meeting in the exhibition area. Each poster will be allocated a panel and the posters must not exceed A0 portrait size (84.1 cm wide x 118.9 cm high). Please use the template to prepare your poster.

The winner of the Chris Farrell Prize receives a trophy together with a monetary award of $500 which will be presented at the Gala Dinner on Friday 1 November.

General Program Presentations

The Program Committee will allocate abstracts to the program taking into account the quality of each and the balance of the program.

Presentations for the general program will be oral only. Trainees can submit more than one abstract for the meeting but must nominate which abstract they wish to be considered for the Chris Farrell Prize.

There is no template for the presentation slides however your allocated time limit is to be strictly adhered to.

The time available for each presentation will be decided upon review and will include 1-2 minutes for questions.

You will be notified via email regarding your abstract’s acceptance in the program in August 2019.
