PROF KATRINA WILLIAMS
Head of the Department of Paediatrics, Professor Katrina Williams is a Paediatrician and Public Health Physician with expertise in neurodevelopmental differences and disabilities, with a focus on autism.
Professor Williams has worked and trained in Darwin, Sydney, London and Melbourne. Prior to her current role, she was the APEX Australia Chair of Developmental Medicine, University of Melbourne and Director of Neurodevelopment and Disability Department, Royal Children’s Hospital. She has honorary appointments at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and University of Melbourne.
Professor Williams’ research uses clinical and population epidemiology to estimate prevalence, find causes, understand prognosis, make accurate diagnoses and develop effective interventions. She is actively involved in evidence syntheses and making best use of existing data.
Professor Williams’ vision is to deliver best care for children and their families by making important discoveries, generating and synthesising high quality evidence and embedding research and training in health care for children, youth and their families.
