DR Gerald Mahoney
Gerald Mahoney, PhD. is the Verna Houck Motto of Families and Community Emeritus at Case Western Reserve University. He was in Higher Education for 43 years in academic positions associated with Early Childhood Special Education. Dr. Mahoney’s research has focused on parent and family influences on children’s development and social emotional functioning. He has published numerous studies on parental influences on the development of children at-risk or with disabilities, as well as on the application of research findings from the parent-child literature to early intervention practice. He and his colleagues developed a Relationship Based developmental intervention curriculum called Responsive Teaching (Mahoney & Perales, 2019) which has been implemented and evaluated in numerous countries.
