Dr Michael Kennelly

Michael Kennelly, MD holds various faculty teaching positions in the Departments of Urology and Gynecology at Carolinas Medical Center and University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He is Medical Director of the Charlotte Continence Center at Carolinas Medical Center, Director of Urology at Carolinas Rehabilitation Hospital, and Co-Director of the Women’s Center for Pelvic Health. In addition, he is Professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Urology at University of North Carolina Medical School – Charlotte Campus.

Dr Kennelly completed his medical school training at University of Cincinnati School of Medicine in 1989. His postgraduate training included an internship and urologic residency at the University of Michigan Hospitals in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He completed his fellowship training in female urology, neurourology, urodynamics, and reconstructive urology through the Division of Urology at The University of Texas in Houston, Texas. He was an American Urologic Association Scholar between 1994 – 1995 with an emphasis on neuropharmacologic treatments and urodynamic effects in neurogenic bladder and detrusor sphincter dyssynergia.

Dr. Kennelly is a Diplomat of The American Board of Urology with certification in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he is also a member of more than 15 professional organizations and holds several leadership positions. He is the Treasurer of the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals, President of the American Paraplegic Society, Past President of the American Spinal Injury Association, Board of Director of the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine & Urogenital Reconstruction and Chair of the Bladder Health Committee of the AUA Urology Care Foundation..

Listed in Americas Top Doctors for 14 consecutive years (2002-2016), Dr. Kennelly’s clinical, educational, and academic expertise is in male and female voiding dysfunction, neurogenic bladder, and complex lower urinary tract and pelvic floor reconstruction. He participates in numerous clinical trials and regularly serves as organizer, invited lecturer and visiting professor at local, national, and international events. Dr. Kennelly has authored or coauthored several journal articles, book chapters, and educational videos in the areas of urinary incontinence and neurourology and has lectured extensively on these topics.

 

Dr Bilal Chughtai

Dr Bilal Chughtai, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Urology. Dr Chughtai specializes in Voiding Dysfunction, Female Urology, and Neurourology.

Dr Chughtai treats the body as a cohesive system with a focus on urological care.  He believes it is just as important to address immediate symptoms as it is to examine the underlying causes of the urological complaint. Dr Chughtai engages his patients in a manner that improves their present urological conditions and actively involves them in their future wellbeing. His treatment focuses on introducing daily healthy habits and hones in on preventing future urological conditions. The effectiveness of his medical and surgical treatment relies heavily on strong doctor/patient relationships, and on the patient’s resolve to make healthy changes.

Dr Chughtai completed his Residency in General Surgery and Urology at Albany Medical Center, followed by a Fellowship in Female Urology, Neurourology, and Voiding Dysfunction at Weill Cornell Medical Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.  He earned his Doctor of Medicine at State University of New York at Stony Brook after graduating Magna cum Laude from New York University with a major in Biological Sciences.

Dr Chughtai is also an active researcher. He has served as primary & co-investigator in numerous studies. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed articles, authored chapters and books, and has presented at numerous prestigious national meetings.

Professor Shing-Hwa Lu


Taipei-Veterans General Hospital and National Yang-Ming University, Taiwan


Professor Shing-Hwa Lu is Professor of Urology at the National Yang-Ming University, Taipei, Taiwan and Chief of Department of Female and Pediatric Urology at the Taipei-Veterans General Hospital, Taiwan. Professor Lu underwent residency training, specialising in Urology and became Attending Urologist at the Taipei-Veterans General Hospital before pursuing his PhD at the National Yang-Ming University. Professor Lu got a PhD degree in the Department of Biochemistry and spent two years completing postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Pharmacology and Stem Cell Research Center in the School of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. Professor William Chet deGroat and Michael B. Chancellor were his mentors in USA. He is also the Secretary of the Pan-Pacific Continence Society.
