Anita is an Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner with more than 23 years experience working in the Orthopaedic & Trauma Service, Royal Adelaide Hospital, Central Adelaide Local Health Network. As the “NOF Nurse” she aims to improve the integration of care for patients who present to ED with a proximal femur fracture and hopes to extend her practice to include other fragility fractures. Her professional interests include a passion for orthopaedic nursing, fragility fracture & osteoporosis and advanced nursing practice. She is a past President of South Australian Orthopaedic Nurses (SAON) and the ANZONA (Australian New Zealand Orthopaedic Nurses Association) representative on the international ‘toolkit’: Nursing Care of the Older Adult with Hip Fracture under the auspices of the International Collaboration of Orthopaedic Nursing (ICON) published in the International Journal of Orthopaedic & Trauma Nursing (IJOTN). Anita is currently the ANZONA representative to the Steering group of the Australia New Zealand Hip Fracture Registry (ANZHFR) that developed the ANZ Guideline for Hip Fracture Care in September 2014. And she was the ANZONA rep and Co-Chair of the Topic Working Group that developed the Hip Fracture Clinical Care Standard under the auspices of the Australian Commission on Safety & Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC) in September 2016. Lately she has chaired the committee overseeing the implementation in Central Adelaide Local Health Network of a statewide model of care for Orthogeriatric Acute Hip Fracture as part of Transforming Health service redesign.
