Biography

Mrs. Sowmia Thomas is one the orthopaedic clinical nurse specialists in Auckland Hospital, New Zealand. She commenced her international professional speaking career at the Global Wound Care Congress in San Antonio, Texas in 2016. Sowmia completed her Post Graduate studies from University of Auckland and Bachelor of Nursing Degree from Manipal University, India. Her primary interests are complex wound care for trauma and sarcoma surveillance. She is also an award winning Auckland restaurateur.

Biography

Mr Stephen Wright is a Clinical Nurse in Orthopaedics, Surgical and Palliative Care working on the surgical/orthopaedic ward at the Lyell McEwin Hospital in Adelaide, South Australia. He has completed the Graduate Diploma in Nursing Science (orthopaedics) and currently undertaking the Master of Clinical Science (Research) in Orthopaedics at the Adelaide University, Nursing School. Stephen is a committee member of SAON (South Australia Orthopaedic Nurses).

Biography

Miss Emma Blake graduated from Curtin University with a Master of Physiotherapy in 2003 and soon developed a keen interest in orthopaedics. She has been working as a senior physiotherapist specialising in the management of patients undergoing joint replacement surgery for over 10 years since establishing the Accelerated Rehabilitation Program at Osborne Park Hospital. Her areas of interest and research include enhanced recovery following joint replacement surgery and anaesthetic techniques and acute pain management following total knee replacement. Emma has presented at many conferences on accelerated rehabilitation and has been a guest lecturer at Notre Dame University for the past 5 years.
