A/Prof. Paige Little

Research Director
Biomechanics & Spine Research Group | Centre for Children’s Health Research
School of Mechanical, Medical and Process Engineering | Faculty of Engineering
Queensland University of Technology

Associate Professor J Paige Little is a Mechanical Engineer, and holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, which was awarded in 2004 for her research on finite element modelling of intervertebral disc degeneration in the lumbar spine.

Paige’s expertise is in the application of engineering and mathematical simulation techniques to the exploration and modelling of physiological systems, with a particular focus on improving understanding of the progression and treatment of spinal deformity in children, and on characterising biomechanics of the healthy adult spine.  Her research projects use 3D simulation, finite element modelling, non-invasive patient imaging, and advanced manufacturing to develop fundamental understanding of spine biomechanics, and to design bespoke treatment solutions for individual paediatric patients with spinal deformity.

Paige is the Principal Fellow in Spine at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). She is Research Director for the Biomechanics and Spine Research Group, a collaborative research group with members from both QUT and the Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, and also holds the role of External Engagement Lead for the QUT Tier 1 Research Centre for Biomedical Technologies.
