Associate Professor, School of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering, The University of Adelaide | Department of Orthopaedics, Royal Adelaide Hospital

Associate Professor Claire Jones is a researcher leader and teacher in the School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, and the Centre for Orthopaedics & Trauma Research, The University of Adelaide, and an affiliate Research Fellow at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute. She obtained her PhD in biomechanics from the University of British Columbia, where she initiated the development of the UBC porcine model of spinal cord injury, in 2011.

In Adelaide, Dr Jones leads the Adelaide Spinal Research Group, a multidisciplinary research group that brings together engineers, medical scientists and clinicians to study the biomechanics of neurotrauma, with a primary focus on spinal column and spinal cord injury, and brain injury. Her diverse research platforms encompass human volunteers, clinical data, pre-clinical large animal models, and cadaver models of trauma.

Dr Jones’ research has, in part, been funded by the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council, and the Australian Research Council.
