Dr Georgios Vastardis 

In May 2011, Dr Vastardis became board certified in Orthopedic Surgery in Greece and   officially started his specialization in Spine Surgery (Endoscopic and Minimally Invasive Surgery) in the United States of America in June of the same year, starting his own clinical and research fellowship. Although, during his residency, in 2009, he was trained in Endoscopic Spine Surgery at DISC institute in Arizona by Anthony Yeung MD, PhD and also in  Germany, where there was at the time the course for Full-Endoscopic Spine Surgery.

The clinical field of his specialization includes the treatment of all conditions and deformities of the Spine (such as Scoliosis and Kyphosis of children & adults), as well as the research in the biomechanics of the Spine (Clinical and Research Fellowship on Spine Surgery and Biomechanics of the Spine) at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, USA, (Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Rehabilitation) and Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital in Chicago, USA which houses the University’s biomechanical research laboratory.

Once Dr Vastardis had completed his two year fellowship, he continued to work as a clinical and research associate and fellow at Loyola University Medical Center (Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Rehabilitation) in Chicago, USA; Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital in Chicago, USA and  Health Adventist Hinsdale Medical Center in Hinsdale, Chicago. Upon his return to Greece in July 2014, George founded and took the position as Head of Endoscopic and Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS) Clinic at the IASO General Hospital in Athens, which was renamed as Metropolitan General Hospital in August 2018, member of Hellenic Healthcare Group, the largest private healthcare group in Greece established in 2018. 

Starting 2019, Dr Vastardis became an ambassador and international leading instructor of Full-Endoscopic Spine Surgery, for different international companies of Endoscopic Spine Surgery. From 2019 until January 2022 he was an international instructor for Riwospine and from January 2022 he has been an ambassador and international instructor for full endoscopic spine surgery for Elliquence. 

Furthermore, Dr Vastardis is a member of International Education Committees and societies such as NASS and SRS.
