Dr Pei Huang has been a staff specialist in Stroke and Rehabilitation unit at Ipswich General Hospital since 2015, her practice is focused on inpatient stroke and rehabilitation. 

She has experience in setting up a private outpatient practice, musculoskeletal ultrasound techniques for point of care treatment and Botulinum toxin use in treating patients with both standard or non-standard standard indications.  

Dr Huang was born in China, in 1998 she was the successful candidate for an Overseas Study Scholarship from the Educational Council of China and arrived in Australia the same year. As a visiting doctor, Dr Huang worked under Professor John Fletcher at Westmead Hospital. Her inspiration was to become a Vascular Surgeon, and practice in Australia. She was a team member involved in a research project in the field of vascular biology and published two papers in high profile surgical journals.

In 2002, Dr Huang received the prestigious PhD scholarship from the Heart Foundation of Australian and obtained her PhD from Sydney University in 2008.  She commenced her residency at Westmead Hospital in 2004 and concurrently worked on a PhD thesis. Dr Huang obtained her fellowship in rehabilitation medicine in 2014 and took on a role at Ipswich Hospital in 2015. 

She enjoys the clinical work associated with being a rehabilitation physician, focusing on solving patient’s problem and learning new aspects of medicine and patient care.

Professionally now, Dr Huang has a strong “what next" feeling as she work out what the next big challenge will be.
