Ricardo Vallejo

Ricardo Vallejo, M.D., PhD., is an Anesthesiologist and Pain Physician, Director of Research at National Spine and Pain Centers and CEO for SXG-Medical LLC.  

He received his medical degree in Univerdidad Libre in Cali, Colombia and a PhD in Immunology at the Complutense University in Madrid, Spain.  

Dr. Vallejo completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Jackson Memorial Hospital (University of Miami) where he was Chief Resident in the Anesthesiology department.

  • He specialized in Pain Medicine at Harvard University’s Massachusetts General Hospital
  • Dr. Vallejo is Board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology, and a member of the examination board for the World Institute of Pain and the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians.
  • His academic accomplishments include authoring over 100 articles in clinical and basic science, published in international peer review journals and over 30 book chapters.
  • He has also been an invited speaker in meetings and conferences all over the world.
  • He is an inventor and entraupener
  • Dr. Vallejo is a member of the editorial boards of multiple international peer review journals, including “Neuromodulation”, “Regional Anesthesia and Pain Management”, "Clinical Journal of Pain", "Pain Physician", "Journal of Opioid Management”, and "Revista Mexicana de Anestesiologia"
  • He serves as an Associate Editor of the journal “Pain Practice” and “Pain Practice”, and was the Chief Editor of “Techniques in Regional Anesthesia and Pain Management”
  • Dr. Vallejo is a member of the ASRA and NANS scientific committee since 2015. He was the Chair of the Scientific Educational Committee of the 2016 ASRA Annual Pain Meeting.
  • He is Research Professor at Illinois Wesleyan University
