Dr Saunders is an Australian specialist Sport and Exercise Physician with extensive experience in team sports at both local, national and international level. She has also accompanied many National teams to elite Sporting competitions overseas. She has accompanied the Australian Olympic team to several Olympic Games. She has also cared for several National teams at World Championships.
Her research interests include the use of regenerative medicine technologies and the diagnosis and treatment of Sacroiliac joint mechanical incompetence. She has published extensively on this topic and has completed her doctoral thesis on Sacroiliac joint injury, with the award of her PhD.
Administratively she is the immediate past Chair of the Overseas Trained Doctors Assessment Committee, as well as a member of the Research Committee and is a past Secretary of this College. She was formerly on the Board of Censors for the Australian College of Sports Physicians for many years.
She has been awarded the Australian Sports Medal by the Australian Commonwealth government for services to Sports Medicine and was recently awarded the Ken Crichton citation for distinguished service to the Australasian College of Sports and Exercise Medicine.
